Moon Embracing the Sun: Deserving to be 2012's Most Watched Korean Drama

I just finished watching the 20 episodes of Moon Embracing the Sun and I must say, it was truly a great Korean drama. It was during the Joseon Dynasty yet the characters are fictional.  The story began with Ho Yeun Nuh, the daughter of Palace's Chief Scholar being selected as the Crowned Princess. Because of Queen Dowagers intention to have her relatives on the position, she asked the Head Shaman Jang to cast a curse against the Crowned Princess. Being the protector of the Moon(Crowned Princess as she is), she made a way to make fool of the Queen. Head Shaman gave the Yeun Nuh an illness and have her drink a medicine that stopped her heartbeat. Right after the burial, Yeun Nuh's body was dug by the Head Shaman and was brought from a place where no one could recognize her. Yeun Nuh lost her memory as the effect of the curse and lived her life as a shaman. After 8 years, Head Shaman together with Yeun Nuh returned to the palace. On their belief that Yeun Nuh has a magical power, a royal command was executed, ordering Yeun Nuh to guard the sick King ( formerly the Crowned Prince)  every night while he is asleep. After one night, the King suddenly became healthy and the sickness was gone instantly. The King fell in love with Yeon Nuh. To be continued.....

Lie to Me Addiction

Who among you guys love Koreannovelas? Me... not that much. I only watch when it creates a buzz and I get curious about it.

Cherry Blossom Kiss
One day, a friend of mine gave me a complete copy of the romantic-comedy koreanovela "LIE TO ME" which was also being aired on GMA-7 that time ( though it is shown primetime so I don't get to watch it due to my work schedule). I started watching it and gee, I got so hooked! The fact is that the plot is very simple and predictable, but what made me hook are the characters especially the leading man which was played by korean actor Kang Ji Hwan. He played the character of Hyun Gi Joon, a hotel chain president that bears the following characteristics: Educated, Well-Mannered, Handsome, Responsible and ____ (ok, I forgot). Anyway, he met Gong Ah Jung ( played by Yu Eun Hye ), a civil servant who is always being criticized by her friend Yo So Ran. People thought that the hotel president was married to Ah Jung so rumors kept spreading. Ah Jung, having a desire to make So Ran envy of her, she asked Gi Joon to pretend to be her husband. Gi Joon saw the opportunity to use Ah Jung to get his China inverstment signed, agreed to the said arrangement.  The two shared a lot of crazy moments including a housewarming party hel at Gi Joon's house. Being carried away, the two accidentally kissed each other in front of Ah Jung's friends and afterwards, the two seemed to be much comfortable with each other. Not to mention also the sweetness of COLA KISS... I guess it lasted for about 5 minutes...haha!

Final Episode on  JeJu Island
Later on, their feelings for each other grew and decided to end the agreement and start anew. Like other couples, the two experienced some hardships, not to mention Gi Joon's past girlfriend Yun Joo who kept on interfering with the two. One more twist on the story is when Ah Jung  refused to accept Gi Joon's marriage proposal due to some of her personal issues. In the end, they still end up being married.

Kang Ji Hwan as Hyun Gi Joon

Gi Joon's character is much likely to become one girl's dream guy. He's very sweet, intelligent, meticulous, romantic, never gives up and most importantly, knows how to cope up with his girl's feelings. Oh well, if only fairy tales do come true.... I wish I could also find my Hyun Gi Joon. =)
